Class Descriptions

Pre Stars Tiny Stars:

Ages 1-2

A 45 minute class for pre-schoolers containing ballet, tap and creative movement. Dancers will learn basic steps and terminology in ballet and tap, and explore their own creative movement styles through the use of imaginative music and games in a safe, positive environment. Dancers in this class will improve flexibility and coordination through fun, age appropriate movement and exercises. Our instructors use imagination dance games.Students will also work on classroom skills such as following directions, listening and working with others. Placement Notes: It is highly recommended that Pre-Stars students be at least 1 by August 1st. (Recreational) Parent participation is allowed required to help younger students adjust to class structure and become comfortable with the class.

Dress Code: Leotard ( any color). Hair pulled back , PINK ballet shoes. optional dance shorts, tights, and or dance skirt. 

Rising Stars

Ages 2-4 & (Tap & Ballet combo)

A 45minute class for 2-4 year olds comprised of ballet, and tap.During the Rising stars year dancers are introduced to more formal dance technique. Students will also work on refining rhythm and musicality through This class will lay the foundation for correct, safe and successful dancing in years to follow. Students will expand on the basic steps and terminology from the Pre-stars level in ballet and tap, and continue to explore their own creative movement in a safe, positive environment. Along with the introduction of more skills and techniques, instructors continue to foster creativity and imagination in class through movement and imagination games, the use of props and activity songs. listening activities. Dancers in this class will improve flexibility and coordination through fun, age appropriate movement and exercises. Placement Notes: It is highly recommended that Rising-stars students be at least 2 years old by October 1st. Students younger than this should consider the Pre-Stars class for their dance experience. (This is a recreational class and will perform in the recital, and possibly one community performance.)

Dress Code: Leotard, tights, black tap shoes, pink ballet shoes, hair pulled back in pony or bun. 

SHOOTING STARS

Ages 4-6

A 60-90 min class for ages 4-6.5 Shooting Stars builds on ballet and tap skills and concepts and introduces the style of jazz to young dancers. This class is perfect combo class for young children who want to do it all!Students will expand on the basic steps and terminology from the Rising Stars level in ballet and tap, and have the option of adding Jazz/hip hop as they continue to explore their own creative movement in a safe, positive environment. Along with the introduction of more skills and techniques, instructors continue to foster creativity and imagination in class through movement and imagination , age appropriate games, the use of props and activity songs. and listening activities.

Dress Code: Leotard, tights, black tap shoes, jazz shoes (skin tone) (pink ballet shoes) Jazz (tan jazz shoes)

Students may register for 1/2 hour of tap and 1/2 of jazz and/or  1/2 hour of ballet or register for the entire 90 min. at discounted rate.

Pom Pons

Ages 5-8 and Ages 9-11

In this class for aspiring cheerleaders, or dance team enthusiasts. Students will learn Jazz and hip hop movements fused into fun routines and using Poms. Students will also learn formations, timing, and motions specific to pom dance, as well as kick technique.

Recreational and competition classes offered

DRESS CODE: Leotard , dance shorts, white canvas tennis shoes (non marking sole) Poms (studio will provide practice poms) Students will purchase poms to match outfits at a later date.

Level 1 ( Beginner tumbling)

Ages: 6 and older

This is a beginner class that teaches the basic fundamentals of tumbling. Students will work on basic progressions: forward rolls, backward rolls, handstands, handstand drills, cart-wheels, and round-offs. Students may stay in this level until they have mastered a backbend.

DRESS CODE: LEOTARD REQUIRED, Acrobatics shoes, tights, dance shorts optional 

Level 2 tumbling ( intermediate)

Students must be able to do a backbend to enroll in this class. This class is geared for students who have mastered the basic tumbling skills (Level 1) and are ready to move on. The skills in this class are front walkovers, back walkovers, multiple cartwheels, two-step entry into a round-off, and back handspring drills.

DRESS CODE: LEOTARD REQUIRED, Acrobatics shoes, tights, dance shorts optional 

Advanced Tumbling (instructor recommended)

Our advanced tumbling classes focus on developing flexibility, strength and advanced tumbling skills such as side aerials, back handsprings, back tucks and more. Students will focus on finishing tricks once they have achieved them and combining advanced tricks.

Ballet. Classes for All ages: 2-18

The foundation of most modern day dance forms. This beautiful and demanding technique is a necessity for all young, aspiring dancers. Ballet classes are offered for beginning through advanced levels. Non performance Team class, Recreational and  2 competitive Levels classes

Dress Code: Leotard, tights, pink ballet shoes, hair pulled back in pony or bun.

Pointe ages: 10 & up

Offered for students who have studied ballet and have Instructor permission for Pointe classes, must have had at least one year of pre-pointe.

Dress Code: Leotard, tights, pink ballet shoes, hair pulled back in pony or bun. Pointe shoes.

Jazz classes for all ages 3-18

Jazz combines many styles and techniques from ethnic and contemporary dance to ballet. Our jazz classes teach basic jazz dance technique, terminology and style with an emphasis on proper technique, alignment and movement quality. Set to jazz, R&B, ethnic and pop music, jazz classes are a great workout and fun for all ages. Recreational and 3 competitive Levels and Elite Team classes available.

Tap available for all ages 2-18

Tap is a style of American theatrical dance, distinguished by percussive footwork and rhythms. Our tap classes stress the basics of tap while also teaching musicality and rhythm.We also explore some of the great founders of tap as we share a bit of historical information with the students. Try tap for fun and fitness. Recreational and 3 competitive levels offered and Elite Tap Team class available

Musical Theater ages: 6-9 and 10-18

These upbeat classes teach Broadway-style jazz choreography and show-stopping stage presence with a focus on learning song-and-dance numbers from a variety of musical productions, past and present. Recreational and competitive classes

DRESS CODE: Leotard, tights, jazz pants or shorts, hair pulled back, jazz shoes (skin tone)

Lyrical all ages: 8-18

Lyrical is a fusion of ballet and jazz, with expressive motions that tell a story. Students will learn lyrical technique along with how to express emotion through movement. Recreational classes and 3 competitive levels and Elite team offered 

DRESS CODE: Leotard, tights, jazz pants or shorts, hair pulled back, 1/2 soles will be used.

Contemporary ages: 12-18.

These classes blend elements of Contemporary and Modern dance, such as freedom of expression, interpretation of music, principles of fall and recovery, control, breathing, balance and contraction/release. Teachers incorporate an eclectic blend of contemporary and post-modern movement into their classes. Modern and Contemporary Dance forms allow students to explore their individual dance style outside of the structure of traditional ballet and jazz classes. 2 Competitive levels offered classes only

Hip Hop ages: 8-18

Hip Hop encompasses many different urban dance styles such as poppin’, locking, breaking as well as freestyle movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style. Our Hip Hop classes teach rhythm, coordination, musicality and choreography without suggestive music or movements. Students are challenged to think on their feet while enjoying an energetic and fast-paced dance class. Our Hip Hop dancers develop focus, strength, and agility while having fun. This is an excellent class for high-energy kids who want to take a fast and fun dance class.

Recreational and  3 competitive levels and Elite team offered.
